This is a very special tea to me. The material was chosen not only for its taste, but its ability to have a very noticeable warming quality around the heart center. It is dedicated to a very pure loving friend of mine named Davi. Back in 2013 in Arizona, I was fueling her with tea as she finished a beautiful 7-piece painting of a manzanita tree. I later stitched this piece together on the computer and incorporated a photo of her dancing on the beaches of Hawaii to make the cake wrapper.
The material is a medium-light fermented tea from Menghai, made entirely of Te Ji grade. This grade is mostly pure bud with some larger leaves mixed in (technically between gong ting and grade 1). The taste is very rich with strong mushroom notes, followed by pine resin and petrichor. Hints of merlot, moss, and mineral mingle through the mouth (Mmm, yumm!) :-)
This is a great autumn tea. It's very warming and cozy!
Material picked in spring 2014, fermented that summer, and then pressed in Summer of 2015. Aged for over a year at WP headquarters to allow it to mellow out!
There were 500 cakes produced from this pesticide free material.
